Trail Life USA
Troop 5107
Trail Life USA is a young men ministry blending religious component of Royal Ambassadors and outdoor elements of former Boy Scouts of America. We are leading a new troop. Our Woodlands make up three patrols (Foxes, Hawks & Mountain Lions). Our Navigators make up 6th graders.
May 27, 2026 - Court of Honor
Our first year has come to an end. We celebrated Trailmen accomplishments with our Court of Honor!

May 16, 2026 - Memorial Day Flags
The last Service Project and Hit-the-Trail for Troop 5107 is helping Daughter's of the Revolution set out flags for Memorial Day and 4th of July.

May 4, 2026 - Service Project
Our neighbor has been sick for the past two years. Though she is better now, she is unable to keep the yard. Troop 5107 met for a service project to mow and clean up this lawn.

April 27, 2026 - Sports & Fitness Branch
This branch teaches Trailmen about fitness, the history of American sports and uncommon sports. We taught them sports they are less familiar with such as ultimate Ffrisbee, crochet and even jousting.

April 13, 2026 - The Navigators
The Navigators are ages 13 - 15 and engage in a different, more in-depth program than Woodlands.

March 30, 2026 - Science & Technology Branch
Thanks so much to Mr. Terry Sowell at the Public Fishing & Wildlife for teaching Know Your Environment to our troop. Mr. Sowell taught the Trailmen pond management and fisheries, including the details of testing pond water. They learned how to also conduct a clarity test. We let the Tailmen hear the sound of a rattle snake as they learn their environment.

March 13, 2026 - Our 2nd Campout
Thanks to our fathers for executing an incredible second campout. This time at our local PFA. We were given permission to camp in a natural area, not an authorized campsite. The Navigators prepared and executed our supper, which was hamburgers inside tin foil. We took the Woodlands on a hike to see the bald eagle nest.

February 14, 2026 - Values Branch
Values Branch is more classroom-based and teaches Trailmen values for living: Authority, Courage, Kindness, Honor, Respect, Stewardship, Self-Control, etc. At each meeting, our Chaplin, Pastor Hendley, shares a focus on any one word along with a scripture reference.

February 9, 2026 - Life Skills Branch
The Life Skills Branch requires numerous classes. This is where they learn first aid, manners (shaking hands, sitting at the table), personal safety. For the elective, we chose animal care, which Dr. Rahn allowed the Trailmen to tour the veterinarian office. A big thanks to Desmond, representing our local EMS, who brought an ambulance and crew to teach first aid/trauma.

January 16, 2026 - First Campout
We are fortunate that our first campout fell between a night of uppers 20s and another snow. The night we camped only hit 37 degrees. Many of our Foxes went home before dark. I did not want to kill their spirit on their first campout. Everyone else earned their Hit-the-Trail for the Outdoor Skills. We also accomplished Astronomy elective.

December 15, 2025 - Outdoor Skills Branch
On this day, our troop learned Outdoor Cooking. We showed them different cooking methods, and they learned to prepare and cook chips and tacos. All the boy want to learn their outdoor skills such as fire building, ropes and knots, camping, backpacking, orienteering, etc.

December 1, 2025 - Hobbies Branch
It may sound silly, but Trail Life teaches young men how to have hobbies. When I read the curriculum, it gives us leaders ideas. One made a lot of sense: LEGOS! For Hobbies Branch, you do one Core class, then two electives. For the electives, we did Models and Collections. For the collections portion, I brought my collection of Delta airplanes and original Goosebumps books.
November 3, 2025 - The Woodlands
The Woodlands represent ages 5 - 10 comprising three patrols: Foxes, Hawks and Mountain Lions.

October 13, 2025 - Heritage Branch
We opened up with Heritage Branch which teaches about our community, state and American heritage. This is where they learn how to fold the American Flag and conduct a flag ceremony. For our Hit-the-Trail, we visited Veterans Park and listened to “Ragged Ol' Flag” by Johnny Cash. The Trailmen saw the names of Veterans listed. We were also visited by our Sherriff's Office to meet the dogs!

September 8, 2025 - The Woodlands Program
We are starting the first Trail Life USA program in town and hoping to complete all 7 branches. When they learn their Trailman Oath, they will receive this Joining Award. They will earn pins as they complete each branch.
